It’s been a busy week for Southey bowlers , The County Men’s Triples started on Tuesday, the biggest shock with Paul Foley, Andrew Richardson & Rob Dodds losing heavily to a triple from Malden Manor, However there was success for Ian Birnie’s and Steve Wessier’s trples who now play each other the next round. Wednesday was meant to be the National Double 4’s but due to an error by Putney Town they did not turn up and we were given a Walkover. Thursday saw the Men’s Pairs , Chas Manser & Steve Wesser lost out to Alan Harding & Russell Smith (West Wimbledon) they now play Andrew Richardson & Craig Baker who beat Jason Hogg & John Brechin at Supreme.
Friday saw the turn of the Ladies play their pairs, unfortunately Dee Moores & Shan Maylin lost to an Ember pair. There was an all Southey clash, Liz Anderson and Debbie Souter beating Sandra Greatorex and Pat Chappell. Also on Friday saw only Men’s Singles survivor Andrew Richardson beat Elbio Gomez (North Sheen) 21-15 from 10-2 down.
Sunday saw the men go back to West Wimbledon in the Top Club, sadly Southey did not come out on top. Despite Rob Dodds starting us off with a win in the 2 woods no one else won so that meant a 4-1 loss. Rob then went straight over to Southey to play his Surrey Champion of Champions easily beating Alan Butler from Egham 21-4. Also today saw Debbie Souter with son Charlie go to Wandilea to play Family Pairs where they won.
Saturday saw Paul Foley, Andrew Richardson, Craig Baker , new members Joseph and Jamie Tindall all play in a Middleton Cup trial, eventually all have been asked to play in a 2nd trial vs the Ladies Johns Team .
